GENCI has awarded Le French News Lab computing time on Jean Zay, bringing France’s national supercomputing infrastructure to our research on French news.

Operated by the CNRS at its IDRIS computing centre, Jean Zay is a cornerstone of France’s AI research infrastructure. It is Europe’s most widely used academic supercomputer for AI research, supporting work across fields including medicine, astronomy and language technology. Our lab will now draw on that same infrastructure to advance open research on French media. About Jean Zay
The allocation gives us 50,000 CPU core-hours and 3,000 GPU-hours, including access to NVIDIA H100 processors. It will enable us to analyse larger news collections, develop French-language AI tools and run more extensive evaluations of their reliability across publishers.
For Le French News Lab, this is a significant expansion of our research capacity. The results will be published openly so other researchers can examine, reproduce and build on the work.
Awarded through GENCI’s 2026 DARI Accès Dynamique programme, the allocation comprises 50,000 CSL CPU core-hours, 1,000 A100 GPU-hours and 2,000 H100 GPU-hours.
